Making Pottery on a Hump Mold with Clay Slab
Plaster Mold used in demo: PhotoPottery's Very Small Round Hump Mold
Handbuild Multiple Pottery Bowls or Plates
It's simple to quickly make sets of bowls or plates with PhotoPottery's Very Small Hump Mold (HM90)!
Typically, we'll roll out enough clay for the number of pieces we plan to make. Having to stop and roll clay for each new piece adds a lot of extra time. Plus, as you can see, our organized work-space is no more!
As one piece is removed, the next piece of clay is cut out, the design imprinted, and then draped on the mold. Using a paper template sized to the mold also accelerates production and is great when you want each piece to be about the same size.
Note: Of course, you can add many design elements after you remove your pottery from the mold, such as underglazes to then sgraffito, a decorative rim, as shown below, and much more.

Here are two examples of small pottery bowls we made today! They're super functional, stack well and take little shelf space. Great as gift sets - to give or to sell!
